Vellore Village

Much of Vellore Village was developed from the 2000s onward, so newer suburban floor plans, attached garages and finished-basement potential are common. The community was planned with schools, parks, recreation facilities and neighbourhood green space integrated throughout its residential areas. Compared with Vaughan's historic village communities, living in Vellore Village feels distinctly newer and more suburban.

Everyday life and amenities

• Vellore Village Community Centre and Library on Villa Royale Avenue is a major neighbourhood hub, with a pool, fitness facilities, gymnasiums and an outdoor skating rink.
• Cortellucci Vaughan Hospital is nearby on the east side of Highway 400, around Jane Street and Major Mackenzie Drive, rather than within Vellore Village itself.
• Neighbourhood parks and green spaces include Vellore Heritage Park, the Vellore Woodlot, ponds, playgrounds, sports fields and walking routes through the community.
• Shopping, restaurants and everyday services are concentrated along Weston Road, Rutherford Road and Major Mackenzie Drive, with additional major retail nearby.
• Did you know? Despite the amount of newer housing, the Vellore name predates today's subdivisions. Vellore Heritage Park preserves part of that local history, including the Vellore Hall and School heritage site.

Getting around and commuting

Highway 400 runs immediately east of Vellore Village and provides the most direct nearby north-south highway connection. GO rail is not located within the neighbourhood; depending on the address, buyers may use Rutherford GO or Maple GO, both east of the community. Local transit is available along the area's major corridors.
